Since we released a 3D enabler EDID for HDfury3, you can post any 3D / HDfury3 related question in this sticky thread
The actual 3D enabler EDID file for HDfury3 is available here: http://www.sitename.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17726 |

I put the hdfury 3 edid on my hdfury 2 and tried my sony bdp-s470 3d bluray player. It enables 3d but the tv do not understand the format. Through my 3d projector I get picture but it is all green. I do not think the hdfury2 has the bandwith to do it.
I am still awaiting to be picked for edid programming so I can test a hdfury 3 hint hint. _________________ DR HDMI EDID COLLECTION

will not work with ps3 as your projector doesn't understand frame packed 24p.
A pc however with nvidia vision should work like this as it sends 1280x 720p @120hz frame sequential (aka page flipping)

That's OK, Tony... I think your problem may be solved by Powerstrip and not necessarily require an HD Fury EDID update, so maybe your other thread is fine. Let's hash it out in the other thread and if it turns up to be generally useful info with regard to 3D, we can update the sticky.
Cheers,

Have a few stupid quick questions regarding the EDID and 3D. Hoping someone can help out.
How do you use PowerStrip to change the EDID on the HDFury3... Do you need to have the HDFury3 plugged in to your PC somehow? (Total Newbie Question, so, my apologies)
The 3D EDID update. Is this to trick BD Players to accept 3D playback or is it to trick your TV to playback 3D images and video. The PS3 has now released its 3D update, so, would using the 3D EDID on an HDFury3 allow my Pioneer Plasma to view 3D movies, programming, etc. or am I completely misunderstanding the use of the EDID update/edit
I Have the HDFury2 and have been looking for a reason to upgrade to the HDFury3 as opposed to just purchasing a newer 3D HDTV. This could possibly be the reason that helps sway me in this direction.
Thanks to anyone that might be able to help me understand this. |

Yes, you have the HD Fury plugged into your graphics card, then use PowerStrip to load new EDID data into the HD Fury.
Updating with a 3D EDID will simply tell a source device (like a PS3) that there is a 3D-capable display connected and to enable 3D content output. Nothing more, nothing less.
In no way will it give a non-3D-capable display the capability to display 3D. 3D source devices like the PS will format its frames using a technique called "frame packing" - stacking each eye's view one on top of the other, then sending it out HDMI. For instance, 720p will actually be a 1280x1440 frame (approximately) - two 720p frames stacked on top of one another. The display then "unpacks" the frames for display, and sends a sync signal to glasses so each eye sees only its matching view.
Bottom line is if you connect reprogram the HD Fury's EDID, then enable 3D, you'll very likely get a garbled or otherwise undisplayable picture on your plasma, along the lines of what wildchild22 referenced in the second post.
