The manual and site are not really clear on what 4:2:2 modes are supported for input.

For my use case, I would like to convert 4:2:2 12-bit to 4:4:4 10-bit.

Is this conversion supported?

What resolution and framerate will be sent to the linker from the source?

Specifically, I want these conversions:

2160p/24Hz/4:2:2/12-bit to 2160p/24Hz/4:4:4/10-bit
2160p/60Hz/4:2:2/12-bit to 2160p/60Hz/4:4:4/10-bit

Hi there

this should not be an issue as this can be set in the scaler section of the GUI for the linker.

Thanks! I'm confused then why those modes are not listed on your site, and there appears to be a warning:

"Note: 4:2:2 12bit input need further testing from UB900."

The only place I see 4:2:2 10-bit or 12-bit input supported is when the color depth will be dropped to 8-bit, or the resolution will be dropped to 1080p.

Could you correct the list of modes before I purchase, so have some extra confirmation that these conversions will work?

Hi there,

Linker doesn't support 4:2:2 deepcolor at OUTPUT only.

It accept 4:2:2 deepcolor at INPUT and can pass it through or modifiy chroma, resolution or colordepth on it.

Now regarding UB900 4K30 4:2:2 deepcolor. It appears that the UB does not send any deepcolor packet when it claims to output 4K30 4:2:2 deepcolor from it's menu.

Many believe they are getting 4K30 4:2:2 deepcolor from this player, but in reality, the deepcolor packet is not present in the stream, but worst, it seems from customer report that the color bit aren't in the stream neither.

We have reported this issue quite a long time ago (at UB900 release) so may be panasonic have fixed it, but even recent report still continue to demonstrate that there is an issue with UB900 outputting deepcolor at 4K24/25/30 4:2:2

Other players have been confirmed ok, such as K8500

PS: We haven't listed much modes for 4K24/25/30 4:2:2 deepcolor (10/12b) at INPUT, because it is NOT an official timing, in fact, there is no VIC for it. So 4K24/25/30 4:2:2 deepcolor will always be a "special" thing. for ex, there is VIC for 4K60 4:2:2 deepcolor.

Check FW0.15 it have new routine for 4:2:2 deepcolor. (especially for 4K60 4:2:2 deepcolor from PS4PRO) but it can help some 4K24/25/30 4:2:2 deepcolor setup as well.
