Great device just received it all is working well except any input that has HDR attached?

I'm using "dreamscreen" ambient lighting attached to the back of my oled lg hdr tv.

I need a device to downscale 4k to 1080p because the ambient lights will only accept a 1080p signal. HDfury linker does the job well.

It downscales 4k blu ray to 1080p no problem, ambient lights work and change colour to what is on the screen.

However if i'm trying to downscale 4k blu ray with HDR to 1080p it doesn't work? ( lights don't change colour ) It seems HDR is the problem?

Am i using the right settings on the linker?

Do i need a DIFFERENT SETTING to downscale HDR to 1080p?? Does HDR need to be cut out of the process somehow?

Linker setup:
4k hdr uhd blu ray player connected to av receiver, receiver has 2 hdmi outputs, 1 is going straight to tv the other is plugged into linker, linker is then plugged into dreamscream ambient lights.

Linker is set to:
custom/GUI use EDID ( default setting 4k60 BT2020/HDR 600MHz ) middle postion.
Scaling mode: Downscaling Mode - everything in gets downscaled to FHD 1080p.
This setup works great for everything except any HDR blu ray media.

Linker is usb powered by the tv usb input.

Any advice or help much appreciated.

Kind regards.

Hi there

Please ensure you have the latest firmware installed from
https://www.hdfury.com/shop/videoprocessors/linker-4k60-444-600mhz/#tab-custom-tab-4

once the firmware is updated use the pc gui and select the quick combo preset to 1080p.

The old firmware kept the same colordepth by default when downscaling and your device must not support 10 bit 1080p.

This should get you up and running.

Hi have you installed the silabs drivers for your version of windows?

If not install them then when you open the app it should allow you to select any option and apply it on the fly.

Best for you to experiment and look through all the options for edid as you can select and see if it helps with the issue.

installed the drivers and started using different presets on pc gui, problem i have now the device doesn't seem to auto change framerate, everything is set to 60hz even if i'm watching 50hz or 24hz??

All i want it to do is except any input source 4k, 4k hdr, 1080p blu ray etc etc and downgrade it to 1080p 50hz / 60hz and 24hz.

Easy rule/setup to support ambient light gear (we do have feedback from most of them already)

1. Run latest Firmware (The below apply since FW0.11)
2. HOLD RST + CLICK INP x4 times. (or set basic preset to 1080p from GUI)
3. if that's not enough, set colordepth 8b in advanced settings for downscale mode from GUI. (or HOLD RST + click INP 8 times)

And you are ready to go forever. we will add more mode and more routines shortly, so stay tuned.

the quickpreset order. This is activated by holding RESET and clicking INPUT. Now the clicks are:

1. Normal operation, clear all 4k30/4k60 presets, clear all deepcoor/colorspace to defaults.
2. Set 4k30/4k60 presets for a 4k60 420 300MHz TV [4k30 8/10/12 -> 4k30 8, 4k60 600 -> 4k60 420 300]
3. Set 4k30/4k60 presets for a 4k30 8-bit 300MHz TV [4k30 8/10/12 -> 4k30 8, 4k60 all-> 1080p60 444 8/10/12]
4. Set 4k30/4k60 presets for a 1080p60 TV [4k30 8/10/12 -> 1080p30 8/10/12, 4k60 all-> 1080p60 444 8/10/12]
(5-9 are unchanged from before)
5 - CS follow / DC follow
6 - CS 4:4:4 / DC follow
7 - CS 4:2:0 / DC follow
8 - CS 4:4:4 / DC 8 bit
9 - CS 4:2:0 / DC 8-bit

Hi,
first off i have to say the help and advice on this forum is the best i've ever come across...THANKYOU

My setup is:

Denon AV Receiver AVR-X2200W
Panasonic DMP-UB900EBK Ultra HD Blu-ray Player
LG 55EF950V OLED TV

Linker is set to:
Custom/GUI use EDID ( middle position )
and
[Downscaling Mode]: In this mode a 4K/2160p DCI/UHD signal will always be downscaled to FHD 1080p.

I've added 2 pictures of windows GUI

Cheers.

Ok 2 things to try:

FIRST: simply activate both 4K60 PRESET to 1080p like you already have on the screenshot and do the same for 4K30 PRESET, activate it and set to 1080p. May be 4K HDR video goes out from UB900 at 4K30 4:4:4 12b, so 4K30 preset will handle it.

SECOND: Remove 4K60 Preset and just use DOWNSCALE + Advanced settings are you have it.

Let us know if it helps... if not, try to take a screenshot when signal is going through (the one that doesn't work) so we can see the incoming timing exactly and then we will make firmware update to handle it in case we can reproduce the issue here.

Thanks for your suggestions I'll try them later and report back.

If they don't work how do I take a picture of timing of incoming signal?
Sorry if it's basic, just making sure I'm doing this right?

Thanks again.

When the source is playing back open the gui of the linker it will give the specs in the right window.

It will show both the input and output.

hope this helps.

Ok thanx, that helps a lot.

I saw that you have a HDMI analyzer at the output, does it get the signal ok ? cause the next question was .. did you try a TV, does it display the signal ?
Can you take same screenshot when it's ambient light connected ?

Maybe the ambient light have problem with 1080p24 ?
Can you please READ EDID when ambient light is connected at output and SAVE TO FILE and then POST here so we can check it's capabilities.

In the meantime, one solution would be to force the HDR in 4K60 4:2:0 10b HDR/BT2020, i guess you just have to remove 24fps option in the settings of the source. can you try that and see if HDR works this way ?

Hi

1."Can you take same screenshot when it's ambient light connected ?"

Ambient light WAS connected at output in the screenshot i posted.

2."I saw that you have a HDMI analyzer at the output, does it get the signal ok
cause the next question was .. did you try a TV, does it display the signal ?"

What HDMI analyzer at output?? Output of linker is ONLY connected to ambient light input...The linker is NOT connected to any display just to ambient light, my av receiver has 2 hdmi outputs, 1 goes straight to display the other straight to linker / ambient light

3."Maybe the ambient light have problem with 1080p24 ?"

Ambient light works fine with 1080p24

4."Can you please READ EDID when ambient light is connected at output and SAVE TO FILE and then POST here so we can check it's capabilities."

I've saved to file BUT can't open it or attach bin file to this message?

5."In the meantime, one solution would be to force the HDR in 4K60 4:2:0 10b HDR/BT2020, i guess you just have to remove 24fps option in the settings of the source. can you try that and see if HDR works this way ?"

Still doesn't work?

Could the fact the lights are not working on my linker mean its not maybe working properly? or would everything still work correctly??

thanks

Please post the bin file to www.filedropper.com

Lastly if your av receiver does not support 4k why dont you try this.

Hook the 4k source up to the linker and then to the ambient light system and do not use the receiver at all.

Then see if the lights work.

Hi
My av receiver is 4K otherwise I wouldn't have one of its 2 HDMI outputs going straight to display, I wouldn't get a 4K HDR signal at all it it wasn't 4K.

Heres the file as instructed , have i done this right??
