|
|
Hi all, I need some help if possible. First off, the facts:
-I own a Samsung LN52A650 LCD HDTV.
You can see it here: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=televisions&type=televisions&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LN52A650A1FXZA#
User Manual here: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/support.do?group=televisions&type=televisions&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LN52A650A1FXZA&mode=C
*The TV can accept a 1080p/60 signal via VGA. This has been confirmed with a direct hook up of the Xbox 360 and it's dedicated VGA cord. Through HDFury it gives a "Mode Not Supported" error.
-I use a Version 3 HDFURY 2 sitename.com version.
I use the following device to power the unit: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049697&cp=
I've done my homework by searching the forum and looking for possible issues but I've seen a scary trend. There's been about 5 people ask about this issue and no resolve was ever found. The issue is that the HDFury 2 when connected to the VGA input of this TV creates the error "mode not supported" and denies a picture.
Here are the errors I get with my equipment:
-Xbox 360 directly connected to TV WITHOUT power cord: "Mode not supported" message. HDFURY shows a blue LED.
-Xbox 360 connected to TV WITH power cord: black screen with TV LED blinking. HD FURY shows no LED light.
This also happens with my PS3 and DVDO Edge.
I hope this is not an issue with the Samsung Series 6 LCD line as it's one of the most popular LCDs today. My need of the HDFury was so I could use VGA with my DVDO upscaler and have low input lag for gaming. As it is, I can't use the HDFury with anything and my DVDO Edge does not output VGA. I think if this problem can be solved then it should be even if it means new HDFury firmware. I say that because the TV is so popular. There will no doubt be lost customers that would love an HDfury if it worked especially since so many of us are wanting to use VGA for all our game systems due to lag.
Thank you for your time. Any help would be appreciated! |

Dear sir,
Stay confident, we take no_lag hardcore gaming very seriously !
Did you try 1080p through YUV input . i'm asking because most of brand new HDMI display does accept 1080p through YUV.
I would recommend you to test this first as it will be of much help to isolate the problem.
You can also try 1080i if 1080p is not supported by the display through YUV. |

I just tried both 1080p and 1080i with the toggle set to YUV and the results were the same as RGB. Without the power cord I got a blue light and "mode not supported" and with the cord I got no light and a black screen with my TV's power button blinking.
I think it's great that you guys are so fast to help. Thanks! I really hope we can figure this out. |

Ok we need to see if you are using correct polarity on the PSU.
When you did your test with YUV, did you also use the YUV extender lead and the YUV input on your display ? |

OK, I just did the test over with the component cable adapter and I did get a picture over component without the PSU. With it plugged in I got a "no signal error". (edit note) There was some interference with the image though. It was not a perfectly clean image)
I'm pretty sure I have the polarity correct on the power adapter. The user guide shows how to set polarity here with a picture: http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/uc/rsk/Support/ProductManuals/2731696_PM_EN.pdf
I have mine set with the "-" sign on front to create a negative core. Is that right? I'm afraid to swap it since it might fry the HDF2. |

Hi Cynn,
Yes HDFury2 is centre negative (-)
Try this. Power off the Xbox, unplug the power from the HDFury2, unplug the HDMI cable.
Plug the power adaptor into the HDFury2, plug the HDMI cable back in, power up the Xbox360 and see if you get an OK picture. |

Well to be honest, a good picture via component does not help me. For me to get as lag free as possible on my TV I have to use the VGA connection. So if I can't get VGA to work then the HDFury 2 does not work for me. |

Where are you living, is your x360 PAL/NTSC ? 50/60 ?
Did you try the X360 through VGA at 1080p on your display, or at least a computer at 1920x1080 ?
Ps: if someone can post others links to PDF usermanual, as we are unable to have those downloading correctly (above link) |

I'm in the USA, NTSC.
Yes I have tried my Xbox 360 with VGA and it works with it's own cable but it does not work with the HDFury 2. I need the HDFury to work with my DVDO so all of my consoles will work via VGA.
My TV supports 1080p 60 via VGA. There's been a lot of Samsung owners here asking about this issue. |

btw what firmware are you running on the DVDO ? according to it's rep, there is new out there that should worth trying:
iScan VP50 1.09 Beta Software (January 28, 2009)
http://www.anchorbaytech.com/support/so ... t.1.09.php
New Features:
Supports the ability to turn Progressive Cadence Detection On and Off. Progressive Cadence Detection is beneficial when the input frame rate and output frame rate are different. For example, if the input frame rate is 60Hz and the content is film-based (24fps) and the output frame rate is set to 24Hz (or a multiple of 24) than this feature should be set to ON.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed problem when there may be a small horizontal shift on analog output with XGA resolution
Fixed power up issues on certain units where noise is observed on the output
iScan VP50PRO 1.05 Beta Software (Jan 28, 2009)
http://www.anchorbaytech.com/support/so ... t.1.05.php
New Features:
Added support for 240p and 288p Formats
Increased maximum Overscan range to 35%
Improved Mosquito Noise Reduction (Low, Medium) Settings
Bug Fixes:
Improved high-bit-rate audio support for some A/V Receivers including Denon AVRs
Fixed 1080i output field inversion and frame rate conversion issues
Fixed compatibility issues with some HD-SDI sources (Requires revised HD-SDI Input Module)
Disabled PReP control for input formats that dont require PReP
Fixed Output Timings for SVGA and SXGA
Supported Serial Automation Commands for input presets
Fixed cases where erroneous timeout messages are sent to host during Serial Automation communications
Fixed EDID ROM where some devices are mistakenly identified as DVI
Fixed cases where HDMI input audio data didn't get passed through correctly to the HDMI output |

| I am still having problems. So far my HDFury2 has been useless. I'm reading about new firmwares and bad units. Does any of this apply to these units not working with Samsung HDTVs? |

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I have the same issue as the OP.
I am trying to eliminate lag between my PS3 and my Samsung LN-T4042 television (720p/1080i).
I finally purchased an HDFury2 and hooked it up into the VGA port on my TV (the only way I am going to reduce lag).
Initially I had no picture at all, but with the help of some threads here I am able to get to a 480p screen (resetting and turning OFF the BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI)). Selection of any other resolution results in a "Mode Not Supported" message.
Is this an issue with my TV, have I not configured my PS3 correctly, or is this a limitation of the HDFURY2?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

Hi, yes these TV's don't play nice with the HDFury2. It's not the HDFury2 it's the HDMI video signal timings. They are too short. The TV is expecting PC based video timings which are longer.
I would recommend adding a Box1040 to your setup. Use the IAC ( Image Alignment Control ) to center the picture. This may give you your 720p and 1080p that you need.
We have had one other person buy this combo HDFury2/Box1040 but he never got back to us to say it was working. He also didn't get back to us to say it wasn't working either. So this may get you up and running.

Thanks for your help. I'm not sure I want to spend the extra $ to get this working. It's not my 'primary' set-up for the PS3 so I can probably live without it, although it would have been nice.
Unfortunate, I guess. |
