|
We bought two of these items within the last three weeks.
One works perfectly, with or without the power supply at 1080p 59.90 & 60hz, out of a Barco Pres Pro II into a 1080p HD compatible screen. To ensure the integrity of the power supplies we had sourced for the HD fury's as the UK plugs are not compatible with AU plugs I performed the following test.
(I) I inserted the HDMI cable directly in to the screen with out the HD fury, and got a perfect image. All parts of the test signals (32 x 32 grid & 100% Colour bars) showed up and I could see the edges of my raster box.
(II), I plugged the HDMI into the HD Fury II and allowed the Pres Pro to power it, plugging the VGA tail provided directly in to the screen. On the first of the two HD fury's this worked perfectly, the image was the same as when I plugged the HDMI into the screen. No ghosting and the raster box was perfectly in view.
(III), I plugged in the power supply, (USB 5v regulated 500mA output) into the HD Fury II and again, same result, perfect image.
(IV), I repeated step II with the second unit. I lost three elements of the picture and gained one.
1. The left hand side of the image lost at least 10 pixel points, that even when I shifted the image over, I could not recover the rest of the image.
2. Out of my 32 X 32 grid, I lost all of my vertical bars (Same with the 16 x 16 grid which I also tried)
3. In my 100% colour bars, the image was reduced to 65% of the correct size and shifted to the left.
4. I gained Ghosting on the Blue element of the picture.
(V) I tried plugging in the power supply, the result did not change.
(VI) I also tried, adjusting the refresh rate from 59.9hz to 60hz and to 50hz, unfortunately 50hz was out of the range of the LCD that I was using for this test. No change to the image failure on the second HD fury II at the other refresh rates.
(VII) I reduced the resolution to 720p and the image became perfect once more.
Conclusions.
My second unit HD Fury II is either faulty, or needs some kind of calibration.
Especially as my first HD Fury II had no problems with or without power supply being attached.
(As a side not the HD fury III also performed perfectly under this test, power supply attached only)
Suggestions on what to do with the second (faulty?) unit? |
