Customers system:

source - Pioneer LX-71 blu-ray player - latest firmware

input cable HDMI>DVI - 1m

video processor - Lumagen HDP - latest firmware

output cable DVI>HDMI 5m

display Barco 1209s CRT capable of 1080p

HD Fury III + PSU + 5xBNC breakout cable all purchased from user name

Dip switch settings

RGB ON

Sync forced negative (Dip #2 Off, Dip #3 On)

Enhanced colour depth Off (Dip #4 Off)

RGB Shift On (Dip #5 On)

LED On (Dip #6 On)

1080p support on both ports ON (Dips #7 & 8 both On)

RGB centring has been reset (slide & Hold 15+ secs)

A/B port select - tried A only and Auto - no difference.

We are running the scaler as a source switch, and for processing to the sweet spot of the CRT projector for 72Hz 16:9 and for CMS and grey scale calibration.

The issue:

Connecting BD player direct to HDF III to projector = picture @ 480p, 576p, 1080i & 1080p

Connecting BD player to Lumagen scaler to HDF III to projector = no picture on any resolution higher than 480p

It seems that the HD Fury is deciding what resolutions it want to support when connected to the CRT via the breakout cable, and it has chosen nothing more that 480p.

Connecting the same source/proc/HDF III system to the 15pin PC input of an RPTV (JVC HD-56ZR7J) results in pictures at both the TV's supported PC resolutions - 480p & 768p

Connecting the same system directly to the TV on HDMI i.e. minus the HDF III results in the scaler producing images at the TVs supported HD TV resolutions: 480P, 540p, 1080i

The blue light on the HDF III flickers when it is fed with certain unsupported PC or HDTV resolutions.

We have swapped out cables and the scaler, tried different mains sockets, shorter output cables, different configurations of EDID support on the scaler (Pass-thru, auto, specific enabled list, all supported resolutions) and EDID connectivity (always ON, reconnect only, normal) as well as ensuring the scaler always outputs DVI-D. No change or improvement. Sad

Have been in contact with Lumagen support in the UK. They aren't aware of an issue, so we might be the first case. I have used Lumagens with HD Fury I & II before with good results.

Can someone tell us is this a HDCP or EDID issue and , more importantly, how we solve it.

Thanks in advance

Just an update on this problem. Chris and i have now been able to get some higher resolutions to work but when we output 1080p from the player through the lumagen we will get a picture on the barco 1209s projector but it wont stay for more than a second and then the picture just flashes on and off repeatedly. We have a dvi to hdmi adaptor on the end of the cable from the lumagen to the hdfury3.

I am having a similar issue with the Logitech Revue Google TV.
I have the following setup:

Revue (HDMI out) --> Pioneer VSX-1016TXV (HDMI pass through) --> HDFury2 v1.51 (Component out) --> CELABS AV400COMP (Component Splitter) --> C5HDP (Cat5e) Baluns --> Rear Proj CRT Sony KP-51WS500

I had hooked up the Revue to a TV set with HDMI, configured the output to 1080i instead of Auto, then hooked it back up to my setup above, but get no picture at all.

the HDFury2 lights up steady blue.

I am able to pass my Tivo HD series 3 using the same setup as above (substitute the Revue with Tivo via HDMI switching on Pioneer receiver) with no issues.
The Tivo is also set to output at 1080i.

Any suggestions for next troubleshooting steps?
TIA

I just bought the new Logitech Revue Google TV STB and am trying to get it to work with my Sony 40" CRT KV-40XBR700 TV (which only supports 1080i/480p/480i) via my HDfury3. The problem is that when I turn on the Revue it goes into the setup screen. The screen appears all hashed. There's obviously text or images there, but all I see are large gigantic rectangular pixels. I've seen the same thing with my Blu-ray DVD and DirecTV DVR when they first come up, but after booting both devices settle into 1080i (which I initially set through the analog outputs they have) and I get the picture.

I've talked to Logitech, they say the Revue will initially autoset itself to whatever the HDMI port on the TV says it supports. My guess is that since the HDfury3 says it supports 1080p, that's what the Revue is putting out. The HDfury FAQ says to set the Revue to 1080i, but there's a major chicken and egg problem. There's no way to set the Revue to 1080i except from the TV. The Revue only has a HDMI output (most new devices are doing away with the analog outputs these days). My Sony TV with the HDfury3 is the only HDMI display device I have. So how do I tell the Revue to go into 1080i display mode? Or is there a way to force the HDfury3 to say it is a 1080i device instead of 1080p?

UPDATE: I updated the EDID to max output at 1080i, but still am not getting any image on my TV.
I've tried connecting the Logitech Revue directly to the HDFury2, and still no good. I don't think the Pioneer AV Receiver is the bad link in my setup.
How can I tell what frame rate the Logitech Revue is outputting to see if that is the issue?

Hello,

I've been trying to track down a problem I'm having with a new Windows Media Center PC. The problem is with playback of live and recorded TV programs. About 3/4 of the time, when I fast forward, the display will black out for about 5 seconds before the picture is restored. This also seems to happen (although far less frequently) when just watching programs at normal speed.

My setup is an HTPC using BFG Tech GE Force 210 video card, feeding HDMI to an HDFury 2, which then feeds component video through a balun to a Panasonic 42" Plasma. The video resolution is set to 720P, and the HDMI cable is 3' long. The HDFury component breakout is connected directly to a matrix switcher, one output of which is connected to the balun ultimately connected to the TV.

After trying many things with no success, I switched to VGA output from the HTPC, converted it to component, and fed the output to the matrix switcher. This solved the problem, leading me to believe the source of the problem is the interaction between the HDFury and the HDMI output of the PC.

I bought the HD Fury earlier this year. It has "V 1.51" and a blue dot stamped on it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

- HDMI source in use (Firmware version if any available)

Sony BDP S350 & Sony Playstation 3 (Both newest Firmwares)
HD Fury 1 Blue Edition

- HDMI source resolution that you set up

Tryed all available resolutions

- HDMI > DVI-D cable length

4m, Extended Power supply is installed

- HDfury Blue LED status (on or off)

On

- VGA to VGA/BNC/DB9 cable length (if you did not use the one supplied)

the supplied one is in use

- Display model and specs (link to specs/PDF if available)

Sharp X10XR (DLP Beamer)

- Accurate description of the problem.

From one day to the next my chain stopped workin.
The player starts up and i can see his Loading-Screen over the Beamer. Then (i think the handshake-moment) the player will show his menu, but now the screen is all black.
The Player has been send to sony but they found no error.

Yesterday i tried a Playstation 3. Cause the Playstation has no boot-screen the beamer shows all black from the beginning.

Now something curious: When i start the BDP-S350 without the hdmi connection and wait, until hes in the menu and THEN plug in the hdmi-calbe with the fury and the beamer, then i get the right screen with the player menu etc.! So the Connection must be correct. Problem: The player doenst know that something is at the hdmi-out and i cannot change the settings like resolution etc.
When i get an picture with this "tweak" i can watch blurays in 1080i without problems. Only Dvds are not upscaled. But i have a picture, yeahi Wink.

So, is it possible that my Blue fury is on the Blacklist?? Or is it broken cause ist has such handshake-problems?

Thanks for reading my hard english... im from Germany Wink.

I'm betting your Logitech reads the EDID in the HDFury2 and sets itself to 1080p. Do you have a PC monitor you can test with to try the Revue/HDFury2 on?

Yes very but I have seen cases with HDMI cable that are problematic but work fine when swapped end to end!

So strange things happen with HDMI.

It sounds like a hand shaking issue. Did you change anything one day to the next?

Yes, i think so, too! So i guess that the fury is on the blacklist...

It stopped workin after watchin a bluray on another tv. So i thought this BR has updated the blacklist and now the fury-key is blocked.

But i changed nothing...

The only work around I can think of is to buy an HDMI switch and an HDMI cable and start the S350 first with the HDMI switch NOT on the S350 input then switch over to the S350 after start up.

This is the first time I've seen this. Let me ask HKMod to step in here and have a look.

One last thing. When did you do the firmware update? Was it just before this happened?

no, after this.

My first idea was a broken BR-Player, so i tryed first a firmware-update. But it didnt help.
Sony has checked it, too. No Error.

Thanks for your time!
